Can I use the cardboard for something other than a base?

Yes, you may also cut and alter the 12″x 12″ cardboard for your devise. Remember, the device still needs to be freestanding and cannot be taped to the floor or any other object not on the materials list. You can tape the devise to the cardboard, if you choose to.

Can I use flex tape?

No, flex tape may not be used. The only types of tape you may use are duct tape, clear scotch tape (classroom size), and masking tape (3/4″ classroom size).

If the base of my device is two feet away from the wicket, but it extends 6 inches forward when activated, does that still work?

No, all of the components of your device must be at least two feet away when launched. No part of the device may extend closer than 24″ at any point.

I am confused about points. If I use 10 pencils is that just one point for all of them or one point each?

Each pencil is 1 point. The values for materials are the unit rate- per one item. So 3 rubber bands would cost 6 points.
